I know my posts are few and far between in the winter months.  I admit, I am no winter gardener but I want to take the opportunity of wishing anyone who visits my gardening website a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy, Peaceful, and Prosperous New Year .   Polar Bear at RHS Garden Centre, Harlow Carr, December 2013

FEEDING SQUIRRELS WINTER 2013

Image
Squirrels are welcome to feed in my garden.  They are allowed to share the birds' food although I put some seed on the ground for them, but one enterprising squirrel wasn't satisfied with the very same seed on the ground as in the feeders.  He, or she, has jumped from a tub onto the tray screwed underneath the bird seed feeder.  They are such wonderful acrobats and a delight to watch.  On the ground the other squirrel is more well behaved, he or she is picking up seeds and other edibles in the garden borders, on the lawn, and on the patio where I purposely put seed for them.  Tuck away, little squirrels, before my cat, Alfie, comes out to play.
