TRIMMING TRAILING LOBELIA

Whether I have done rightly or wrongly remains to be seen but yesterday I trimmed back my hanging baskets quite ruthlessly.  Perhaps rather too ruthlessly.  A lot of the flowers were starting to fade on one particular hanging basket and the others were getting gigantic and out of control.  I knew that at some point, with the weight of the growth, they would start to look bad especially as the flowers started to die.  The idea of trimming back lobelia is to invigorate it, to make new growth and thus more flowers.  Anyway, I took my secateurs to them and with any luck, they won't drop dead with shock.   Watch this space!  Gardening is often experimental.
