THORP PERROW ARBORETUM, the Ropner family house
Thorp Perrow Arboretum is privately owned by Sir John Ropner and was created back in the early 20th century by Colonel Sir Leonard Ropner (1895-1977). Said to be unique to Great Britain, if not Europe, it has an extraordinary collection of beautiful plants and trees and is situated amid the beautiful countryside of the Yorkshire Dales in North Yorkshire. The private Ropner house is not available for viewing much closer than from across the small lake. They have wonderful gardens, conservatories and greenhouses. I would so love to have had a look around the outside at least. I took a couple of photographs and I confess I could be very happy living in a place like that.
