NOVEMBER SNOW - BUBBLE-WRAPPED CONTAINER PLANTS
Although it wasn't a complete surprise as, yesterday, I had read the weather forecast for today, I didn't seriously expect to see the area where I live, West Yorkshire, covered in snow when I got up this morning. Only yesterday I was saying to a friend when we visited a park in Huddersfield, where the golden leaves were falling off the trees, that winter is coming fast. I just didn't expect it to be that fast. I'm so pleased that yesterday, late afternoon, after reading the weather forecast, I bubble-wrapped the containers of my most valuable and less hardy container-grown plants. I'm not sure just how much good bubble-wrap will do, but it won't do any harm.
I am so very very glad now, that I cut back the flowering fuchsias and protected them in the mini-greenhouses. That was only days ago. The outstanding job is that I need to protect the begonias. They are still outside but very close to the house wall so I think they will be ok for the moment. I need to cut them back (they are still in flower) and protect them. Often I bring them in but this year I have decided to leave them in the trough and cover them with some kind of insulating protection. I've enough stuff in the house!

Do you live in a place where the temperate drops below freezing? If so, have you turned off the water to your outside taps? Maybe you should.

Think birds. I've been out and topped up the feeder with sunflower seeds and other seeds. The birds are busy feeding and I'm seeing quite a few Great Tits. I have seen a couple of Robins this morning too, and a squirrel. They are so lovely. Alfie, my Ragdoll cat, is happier to stay indoors and watch them through the window.
