Arenaria montana, an evergreen perennial, is a useful plant for ground cover (and suppressing weeds). I first planted it in a south-facing border in 2014 and it has gradually spread to cover the soil around it with a carpet of green, liberally dotted with small white flowers.

It's also known as the Mountain Daisy, although it doesn't look much like a daisy to me. There is more information to be found on
Arenaria montana at the RHS website.
On a final note, I do wish it would stop raining. Enough's enough already! Now that the terrible gales have ended, the rain is finishing the job of making my garden look miserable. The wind tore my beautiful
Thalictrum aquilegifolium in half. In half!!!! Ripped it roots and all out of the ground.
Apparently we are still in spring. Officially it is not summer until 21 June, 2017. Ok then, the weather has eleven days to get its act together. Eleven whole days!
