HELIANTHEMUM (ROCK ROSE) 'BEN FHADA'
The narrow strip of almost south-facing border at the front of my home is covered right now with ground covering plants in full flower, with lots of buds promising more to come. Although it has been rather blustery and rainy lately, including today, the Helianthemum (Rock Rose) 'Ben Fhada' flowers, are putting on a cheery face with their strong yellow flowers, centred orange.
The label says: "Helianthemum 'Ben Fhada' has a profusion of golden-yellow saucer-shaped flowers. Vigorous, evergreen, carpeting mounds with tiny yellow-tipped leaves. It is suitable for border edges, rockeries, walls, banks, gravel gardens and containers in full sun on well-drained soils. Flowering times are lat spring to mid summer. It is fully hardy, and achieves a height of 15cm (6in) and spread of 60cm (24in). Trim after flowering."
To be honest, I cannot say I have noticed that it has "yellow-tipped" leaves, but the flowers are really lovely and about 3-4cm diameter.
